How to travel Golkunda

From Hydrabad city Golkunda is 14km and a little far. Near Nampally bus stand of Hydrabad station two bus roots (119&142) are going to Golkunda. On an average every one hour interval buses of both roots departed from Nampally and from Golkunda return to Nampally and it takes time one hour. Besides buses taxies and Autos are also available.

Himmat Sagar : It is situated abut 22 k.m at a distance from Hydrabad city. Though it is pointed as a sagar actually it is a lake on the top of the hill. It is the source of the river Musi flowed by the Hydrabad city. It’s area is 86sq km “Himmat” was the elder son of Nijam so according to his name the lake is called Himmat Sager. At present there constructed a Sanatoriam of T.B. patients.
Where to stay : Only one Dakbanglo of P.W.D is there for stay. To stay here advance booking is required. Booking – S.E, P.W.D water works, Gosha Mahal, Hydrabad, Andhrapradesh.
Hossain Sagar : It is also a lake like Himmat Sager. Though it is called sager. But is is not a natural one it is artificial lake. One can easily reach there walking 15-20 minutes from Hydrabad city. Sultan Ibrahim Kuli Kutab saha was seriously ill. No hope to live. After prolonged treatment, Hossain Saha Oali cured him. For the sake of gratitude Sultan Ibrahim digout this lake to remember his name. The lake separated to two cites, Hydrabad and Sekendrabad lying between them.
The English established the Hydrabad city for their own interest. There built cantonment also. In the year 1990AD. There built a standing image of lord Buddha made of stone which was about 18m high. After a few days on a sudden accident the statue rooted out in the water of the lake and sank. After repeated failure to rescue the statue of 350 tons, in the year 1992 succeeded and again re-established it in the same place.
Osman Sagar : The lake Osman sagar is situated 25km west from Hydrabad city. It is an artificial lake. To save the adjacent area from flood it was needed to dig out the lake. It is heard, in the year 1908AD. water of the river Musi overflowed the adjacent area and damaged much. The lake is stuated at a close of Golkunda fort. The then famous architect Ahamed Mirja planned and supervised to built the artificial lake. The work was completed as er plan of Asafsahi raja Nabab Naoaj. To the local inhabitant it is known as ‘Gandhipet’. The natural beauty of the lake covered with green trees is charming. At the beginning of the winter from far and near young men and women come here for a picnic. There is boat riding arrangement in the lake consisting of 45sq.km. area. If you wish you can travel to and fro in the water of the lake hireing a small boat. You can spend for hours together on the swing pool.
