Previously it is said that Rajmahendri is an ancient
Pilgrimage of Southern India. Not only from Andhra Prodesh but also from other
parts of India
the devotees used to come here to offer their homage throughout the year. The
Lingeswar and Markandaya temples on the bank of the river Godabari make the
place so famous. In ancient religious books it is said the bath in Godabari one
can acquire religious merit. Some of the writer of religious books things the
Godabari is as holy as the Ganga . Thousands of
people take their bath in this Puskar Thirta same as people take their bath in
confluence of three streams (alebhad Ganga ,
Jamuna and Saraswati union) on every twelve years at Kumbha Mela. Sri
Chaitannyadeb visited this temple and took his bath in the river Godabari.
The capital of
Rajnarendra : In long past it was on the bank of the
river Godabari at Rajmahendri. The capital, palace, wealth and splendour all
have been ruined. Yet if you once visit such a historical important place you
can feel that your mind is moving on the past.
Saptamukhi : On the bank of the river Godabari it is an excellent charming place
with natural beauty. Here Godabari divided in seven stream and flows in seven
sides which can not be imagined. Beside that the gathering of trees make this spot
more charming.

Mahadeb Mandir : About 30 km away from Rajmahendri
there is famous historical pilgrimage Draksharam. In ancient mythology it is
said that, Daksharam was the capital of the king Daksha. He arranged here the
ablation of fire without shiba and became unfavourite of his son-in-law shiba.
Due to anger Shiba appeared on ablation spot and disturbed it and began to
runaway bearing lifeless Satidebi on his soldier throughout the universe. As a
result in India
appeared 52 famous places of pilgrimage.
Daksharam is known as South-Indian Kashi. According to
many scholer people the place is called Draksharam from the word ‘Duksha Aram ’. The
famous ancient vimeswar mandir vimeshar Sibmandir is found here. The sculpture
and architecture of the temple represent the artistic culture of Chole &
Chalukka. It is heard that in the past Draksharam was a famous Buddhist
pilgrimage. Later Adi Sankara Charya turned it Shib mandir after alteration of
Buddhist Bihar and Chaitya. On the body of the temple there are more than 380
stone writing which is considered as valuable wealth to the historians and men
engaged with research work. Up to Rajmahendri or Kakinara Railway station by
train then 30km or 29km respectively by bus may be reached there.
