Bus : From Bus terminal attached to Guntur
station Buses are going to Srisailan at a distance of 215km. Those who want to go
Srisailam after visiting Nagarjunknda can avail several buses throughout the
day. They also get buses from Dornala 50km, distance and from Hydrabad which is
220km, distance towards Srisailam.Besides that large and small different
stations of the state is connected with Srisailam by bus.
Where to stay :
Previously it is said that, Srisailam is a famous
secred place. It’s natural beauty also charmed the visitors of all ages. But
there is no industry or famous business centre. So outsiders except visitors of
religious minded do not travel here. For that reason Hotel industry did not
spred here.

Things to be
seen : Here on 1500 ft high table land is being
worshiped phallic image of Shiva one of the 12th Jyotirlinga
Mallikarjun. It is said that, Srisailam is one of the famous place of 51 pligrimage.
For this reson also devotees come here in rows or in groups. In the ancient
mythology of the hindu it is said that, the carriage of Mahadeb “Rishava”
expiated here with a view to be freed from vice. Satisfying Shiva Rishava
devote himself strict adoratio to obtain a bom. Being pleased by his strict adoration
Shiva appeared befre him in disguise as Mallikarjun and Parbati Braharambha. It
is heard that Buddhist mendicant Nagarjun lived here.
According to some of the historian research persons
that, Tirthankar Rishavanath lived here for a long time and devote himself in
adoration. With him a few followers also lived here. His influence being
increased the place turned into famous Jain pilgrimage. Famous chinies traveler
and patron of Buddhist religion Huen Sung and Fahien came here and lived here
for fewdays. In their fravelling description mentioned about Srisailam and
Rishava hill. Long days before coming of Huen Sung here there developed the
famous place of pilgrimage of Hindu and Jaina religion and culture and the Buddhist
as well in Nannamolai range of hills as Rishava hill.
In the Mahabharat also mentioned about this hill. But
this hill of Nannamalai range of hills mentioned not as Rishava hill but
mentioned as Srimountain.
Milikarjuneswami Temple : Here the river Krishan known as Pataganga. The Hindus believed
that, a bath in this river is same as attainment of virtue of bathing in the Ganga. The Hindues’ most holy Mallikarjun swami Temple is situated by the side of Rishava hill and on the
bank of the river Krishna, having holy water.
The name of it’s builder is unknown. Due to renovation of the temple by the
kings of Vijoynagore spending much money it is still undamaged.
In the front and the wall of both sides are 6mts. high
like fort there is engraved skillfully different types of images of Mahadeb and
in the inner apartment of the temple there worshipped the image of Nataraj,
made of Bronch.
On the accation of the night fixed for the worship of
Shiva, there maintained puja and other festival gorgeously. There is
arrangement of fair also. Then many devotee from far and near take part in the
festival. In the month of January there attin many devotee of Sankarnath
Kallanam festival also. Anothr festival here is Telegue New year festival.
There are two marvelous water falls in the
Hatakerharem a little distance from the temple. There are coming down by the
hill and through the green forest dancing and rocking style just like a slim,
restless and beautiful young lady.
Sikhareswar
Swami Temple : Too much devotee canvisit the
sikhareswar Temple on the top peak of Nannamalai range of hills at a distance
of seven and half km from mallikarjunswami temple. Thouth it is not so high,
it’s architecture and sculpture shows the prominent instant of Drabirian
artistick skillfulness.
Bhadrachalam : It is situated on the South Bank of the river Godabariand is a
famous place of pilgrimage full of natural beauty. Throughout the year more or
less devotee assemble here for Ramchandraswami temple. They also gather here
for its attractive natural beauty.
