Things to be
seen at Bhadrachalam : Bhadrachalam is famous
mainly for Ramchandraswami Temple, situated on the south bank of the river
Godabari and on the hill top. The temple is made of stone. Though the temple is
not so big, it’s architecture and sculptural skill is charming.
In rememberance of the God Sri Ramchandra and Sitadebi
devotees built this temple on the top of the hill and offered their respect. In
the Ramayana it is said that, on the bank of the river Godabari Ramchandra
lived their forest life in the Panchoboti forest with his chaste wife Sitadebi
and younger brother Lakshmana making there cottage. As ravana, the king of
Lanka stole Sita and fled away to Lanka, Ramchandra being overwhelmed with
sorrow in absence of Sita came here with Lakshmana in search of Sita.
Main temple is not so large. There are a few small
temple all around it. All are made of stone. The Gopuram of the main temple is
much high and the sculpture on its body is much astonishing to the present
sculptors no doubt. On the body of the main temple there can by found charming
artistic work.
In the inner apartment of the temple there staying and
warshiping the stone images of God Sri Ramchandra, his wife Sitadebi and
younger brother Lakshmana. It is really astonishing that, such images can be
made engraving stone. Here Sri Ramchandra is fourhanded – arrow, bow, conch and
holding discus in hand.
